About The Monk

Craft Beer is one of man's great loves. You may even call it a hobby, as it's easy to find passion in craft beer.

After a long day's graft there's nothing quite like a craft beer. Be it at a hipster bar in a Melbourne alleyway, a swanky Sydney bar, or from the bottle-o on the corner.

Whether an IPA, Blond, or Bock, to me they all taste good, those deliciously wonderful cold beers.

With quirky names and quirky flavours, leave the decadence for the prestigious wine connoisseurs who spit in a bucket, and revel in your beer like the true working man you are.

Welcome to The Monk, Australia's leading online Craft Beer magazine.

What is beer?

Beer is an alcoholic drink produced from fermentation of malted barley and wheat. The sugars found in the starch of the cereal is fermented to produce the alcohol, and the taste comes from differing concentrations of barley and wheat in the drink itself.
